I found it to be the fastest board right at takeoff, this thing gets going fast pretty much instantly if your back foot is planted back there over the fins, I hate to call this board a fish because this thing feels really nimble and maneverable and its 20 inches wide, in fact I didnt feel restricted by this shape at all, I felt I could do any turn on this griffin that I could do on my 6'3-18.75-2.25 thruster, yet that on this griffin I felt I could fly across weak knee high slop as well as a small wave keel or twinzer, with this board your driving off your back foot, which I think was making me surf better, I know that I adapted to this griffin instantly and was surfing better and more aggressivly that any board Ive ever ridden. this 5 fin is soooo damn versatile.

Its hard to write "just a few sentences" about this board and Greg's experience he provides his clients because I could literally carry on about this board and how it does things no other board I have ever owned in 25+ years of surfing. The first time I heard Greg say the phrase, "controlled lift", I was like what the hell is that? Well, the first time I took the board out was in the nice mid summer Bertha hurricane swell here in FL and it was consistent shoulder high swell, and the first wave I took off and immediately felt the difference in ride, the board felt like it was riding on nothing more than its fins, its hard to describe frankly... then I went and busted out my fins in the back of the wave yet it all happened effortlessly, the board behaves like it knows what you are going to do before you do it... it was so effortless and connected it was almost confusing... well, I called Greg to just say thank you and let him know I just had my first session in fun waves and I told him how it all went but I really could not even put it into words because its not like anything I have ever experienced on a surfboard, "its hard to put into words" kept coming out of my mouth and Greg just let out a big laugh... the boards and the hand made fins Greg is delivering to his clients are so unique and above the crowd... I plan on continuing to build my quiver with Greg over time, I am wholly convinced that there is nothing like Greg's controlled lift in the marektplace... top notch customer service, top notch glass jobs (dont get me started on the sanded finish that looks and feel like a polish/gloss) and the fins, the fins, the fins... it all works together to produce an end effect that will have you grinning from ear to ear while scratching your head and your Griffin will cause you to ignore your other surfboards and Greg is true Aloha, really down to earth, willing to talk at a moments notice, just a super nice person that is willing to share his knowledge of surfing design history freely with you. The whole experience has me stoked on surfing and surfboards more than ever. Its truly been that positive.
